About Tillie
Bio
Tillie Walton is a river conservationist, strategic environmental consultant, philanthropist and hydrologist who has been instrumental in creating and implementing large river restoration projects and environmental conservation efforts around the world. She has co-authored several scientific publications on river dynamics and using restoration waste as biofuel. Her love of rivers was inspired by over 15 years of experience guiding commercial whitewater expeditions through the Grand Canyon and other rivers across the planet.
Tillie served on the board of the Walton Family Foundation for a decade and was instrumental in developing their Environment Program which works towards healthy rivers and oceans. She has served on various boards and advisory boards including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, Aspen Institute’s Vanguard Chapter and Grand Canyon Youth. She currently serves on the advisory board at the Chopra Foundation, Pacific Institute and Mehta Labs.
She is a cofounder of Water Ledger which is developing a blockchain platform to securitize water rights and create a global water market exchange to help with conservation and liquidity.
Tillie is also passionate about meditation and wellness and has be involved in programs in this area including developing a K-12 compassion based curriculum in conjunction with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the Self-Directed Biological Transformation study launched by Deepak Chopra. She is the recipient of the 2018 River Hero’s award.
Tillie holds a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science and Hydrology and a Masters degree in Environmental Management and Planning
