Avani is a student at McMaster University and was a student of GEMS American Academy, Abu Dhabi. She was the organizer of TEDxYouth@GAA (TEDxYouth@GAA 2017 "Creative Frontiers" and TEDxYouth@GAA 2018 "Start With a Yes"). She was instrumental in starting the TEDx initiative at Gems American Academy. TEDxYouth@GAA believes in the power of collaboration, critical thinking, and the promising potential of our youth. Before coming to Abu Dhabi, Avani studied in Calgary, Canada where she engaged in discussions about education, global news, community, and social issues. She aims to grow her expertise on multidisciplinary fronts by participating and leading initiatives that make a positive and tangible social impact. Her concept of community contribution flows from her life experiences as an international citizen of the world.

Avani loves to share spreading ideas and enabling social internetworking by organizing events. She hopes to spread great ideas that tackle the most pressing issues and tell the most important stories of the day.

I'm a filmmaker and photographer. I was a co-director of a crowdsourced film directed by Richie Mehta and produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap. I am a coder. I have participated and worked with multiple open-source software organizations with tasks ranging from coding, documentation, outreach/ research, and user interface design in the Google Code-in Competition for the past 2 years.
