In my day job, I oversee digital development for PBS KIDS: pbskids.org, apps, streaming video services, and our tools for parents. We have produced augmented reality games, content for wearables, connected toys, and voice-enabled experiences. We’re also focused on delivery innovations to make content accessible to kids who don’t have the latest devices or wifi. How can we make sure every child has an opportunity to play and learn in the digital space? In my home life, I’m a military spouse and a mom of 2 preschoolers. Over the past 5 years – thanks to support from local PBS stations and military family networks - I teleworked and commuted to DC from 4 different states. I have a lot of practice managing virtual teams, and I’ve become an expert in flying with infants and toddlers, setting up remote nurseries, sourcing daycare centers, and petitioning tech conferences for better nursing facilities! Before shifting to public media over 18 years ago, I was a preschool teacher and a field researcher studying media habits and leadership opportunities for children in rural communities.
