I am an enthusiastic educator of kids and adults who also writes books and designs games. I am interested in innovative approaches to teaching and learning that are designed to reach out to learners who were born in the 21st century. My area of specialty is gamified instruction and game-based learning. My book on gamified classrooms, Level Up Your Classroom, was published in 2016 by ASCD.

Games, game design, gamification, teaching and learning and making the world a better place for everyone. But at the end of the day, William Gibson got it right. "All things are increasingly interesting to me." It's a real problem staying focused on just one thing sometimes!

There are four basic kinds of game mechanics - agon, alea, mimicry and ilinx. The greatest games integrate these four mechanics in unexpected ways. Excellent gamified lessons are ones that likewise integrate these mechanics.
