About Jennifer

I am a…

Artist, Brainstormer, Concerned citizen, Consultant, Educator/Teacher, Global soul, Idea generator, Life mentor, Project manager

Bio

Of all the things I could say about who I am, I think the most amazing is the fact that one day long ago, my exact DNA had a 1 in 40 million chance of being here and I am. All the other stuff is pretty cool too, but I was always told to lead in with the best you have.

I'm passionate about

engaging in meaningful dialogue to bridge cultural gaps -- returning gentleness to the world -- art and its often underappreciated significance in and to society -- travel and seeing the history of the world -- knitting and my massive stash of beautiful yarns -- being a face and voice of modern day immigrants -- laughter -- books -- friendship -- dismantling mental health stigmas

An idea worth spreading

is that during our constant technological evolution, we do not forget the importance of what we build and create with simple materials, simple methods and our hands.

Areas of expertise

Communication, Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Interpersonal Relations, Keeping Whimsy Alive, Mediation, Mentor, Organization and efficiency, Strategist, Traditional Visual Arts

The TED story

My first introduction to TED was "How I Built a Windmill" and that was all it took for me to be an enamored fan. My love for TED is because it has brought to me people and their stories which have helped me laugh when I wanted to cry, move forward when I wanted to give up, made me feel brave when scared and, most importantly, told me I was not alone in my struggles. I have been educated, inspired, and introduced to things I'd otherwise not have the chance to hear.
