Kristin Leong, M.Ed. is the senior editor of ParentMap magazine and the founder of The Family Court Report, a multimedia hub sharing news and human stories from the front lines of America's Family Court system. She is a 2023 Creative Capital awardee, AIR New Voices Scholar, international TED-Ed Innovative Educator, and Seattle Mayor's Arts Award nominee. She was previously with KUOW Public Radio and is currently an MFA candidate at Bennington College. A first-generation scholar and originally from Honolulu, she now lives in Seattle with her wife, son, and rescue pups Radley and George. I became a TED-Ed Innovative Educator in 2016 and was the opening speaker at TEDxWWU that same year. My TED-Ed Innovation Project ROLL CALL (RollCallProject.com) has been used in classrooms around the world to fuel conversation about how teachers and students connect across cultural divides. In 2021 I was selected to receive $10,000, no strings attached, as part of TED's Mystery Experiment. Through Seatown Story Collective, a youth storytelling organization that I co-founded, I spent last spring working with a cohort of 12 very sharp middle and high school students for Seattle's first TEDxBallardYouth showcase.
