Bio
Over the last 20 years, I’ve developed some of the most popular new programming for radio, podcast and on-demand audio in a transformational moment for the industry.
At Apple News, I’m working on editorial and business models that I hope will help journalism thrive. At NPR, I worked alongside a team of people that reached 20 million listeners each month with everything from Up First to Planet Money to TED Radio Hour. These intimate, enduring connections create hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for a non-profit with a clear sense of its mission.
Beyond public radio, I’ve worked for Amazon, Spotify, Gimlet, Audible and the San Francisco Chronicle in creative leadership roles, focused on how journalism can connect with new audiences.
I’m the co-creator of Freakonomics Radio with Stephen J. Dubner, Sincerely, X with TED and The Takeaway with the New York Times and the BBC World Service.
I learned how to do all this from my parents, both immigrants who loved learning about America through the work of journalists, and from the teaching communities at the University of California, Berkeley and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. https://www.linkedin.com/in/collin-campbell-41136329
