Bio

Peter Boyd is a social entrepreneur who founded Time4Good to maximize the positive impact of the world’s busiest people and the charities they care about. Time4Good is a social-benefit business aimed at solving one of the biggest market failures of our generation – the market for quality time. Parallel to Time4Good, Peter is Resident Fellow at Yale’s Center for Business and the Environment, and is currently helping other organizations with a combination of strategy, marketing, and an eye for climate change solutions and entrepreneurial opportunity. Peter is co-chair of the UN Race to Zero’s Expert Peer Review Group, senior advisor to the Dept of Energy Loan Programs Office. Previously he worked with The B Team on their ‘Net-Zero by 2050’ initiative in the lead up to COP21 and was Launch Director & COO of Sir Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room. His time with business-focused NGOs followed 10 jobs in more than 10 years with the Virgin Group - including two years as CEO of Virgin Mobile South Africa. His career started at McKinsey & Co in London, India & South Africa. He was educated at University of Oxford - is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland - and now lives in Westport, CT USA with his family.

The TED story

Through the inspiring Vladas Lasas & Rūta Kruliauskaite, I was invited to attend TEDX Vilnius 2014 to talk about Carbon War Room's work in Shipping and Islands - solving climate change as a business opportunity. Inspired afresh in 2016 by Pat Mitchell, I am honored to be invited to do a short demo of my broader mission - valuing leaders' time for good.
