About Patrick

I am a…

Blogger, Designer, Engineer, Filmmaker, Inventor, Producer, Technologist, Writer/Editor

Bio

After a decade focusing on applied programming in the mechanical engineering design field, I headed back to school for a somewhat radical change in direction – television production. I then worked in post production (editing) for various television series in Montreal, Canada. Then, in 2007, my love for media production and my enduring interest in science lead me to join a team at the University of Montreal that is focused on the important debates that we should be having surrounding health care. Through filmed interviews and other multimedia productions, I have been doing my bit to fuel these debates through the hinnovic.org website and other activities.

I'm passionate about

The vibrant Indy music scene and how the internet is changing the access to so much culture, music, ideas and humanity's special moments.

An idea worth spreading

I would like to build the ultimate timeline tool. A virtual environment to travel through time. Ask me and I'll tell you more about it ;-)

Areas of expertise

Video & Web production

The TED story

As the technical director of our TEDx, I was filming a presentation given by Stefanie Blain. She was talking about how her idea would allow for severely sick children, kids that spend life in hospital beds, kids said to be silent, how her idea could allow them to emit sounds or music. And to imagine how parents, who had never heard their child, would feel to hear the child's 'song' change when he/she would walk in his/her hospital room. The entire hall was silent. Everyone was caught in the emotion of her story. I was so chocked up that just continuing to film was taking great efforts. It was a really special moment.
