Bio
I'm a philosopher interested in truth, knowledge and the future of both concepts. My new book is KNOW-IT-ALL SOCIETY: Truth and Arrogance in Political Culture.
I'm currently Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor at the University of Connecticut and the director of the Humanities Institute and the New England Humanities Consortium.
I'm passionate about
The future of truth (I want to make sure it has one).
An idea worth spreading
You can't speak truth to power if you accept that power speaks truth by definition.
Areas of expertise
Epistemology, Ethics, Philosophy
The TED story
In addition to TEDSummit 2019, I've done two TED talks -- one of the TED@250 talks on the stage at the old TED HQ in NYC and a main stage talk at TED 2017. Speaking at TED always reminds me how much I don't know. Which is a good thing.
