I have seen over one thousand people be inspired by what we do with TEDx. TED is such a powerful way to free people from their mundane thoughts and become elevated for a while by someone's amazing ideas. I am passionate about scientific discovery and innovation and help to manage and market technologies created at the University of Arizona as Software and IT Licensing Manager for Tech Launch Arizona. 2009 - 2013 Wonder Of We - I use art to create community based social innovation, and I love collaborating in social enterprise. Organizer of the annual TEDxTucson and monthly TEDxTucsonSalon events featuring local innovation, and provide ongoing leadership of an entrepreneurship focused job creation initiative. Absolutely humbled to be a member of the TEDActive Sustainability Project leadership team. Music - Having worked as a professional musician in Toronto through my 20's, I have maintained a lifelong passion for music. Currently I am composing electronic dance and experimental music and have created a persona named Tony Peru as a stage name. Tony lives in an Airstream trailer in the desert and releases his music as free downloads. Where I have lived - I grew up in Nova Scotia, spent my teenage years in a small town outside Toronto and have lived in London, Barcelona, Toronto, Montreal and Sedona Arizona before calling Tucson home for the past 14 years. Spirituality is important to me - I am coordinator of the Drikung Dzogchen Community of Arizona and have been practicing Tibetan Buddhism since 1994. I have studied with many teachers, gone on extensive meditation retreats and integrated the Buddha's teachings into my way of life. This philosophical training enhanced my educational background in Feminist Theory, Marxism and Industrial Relations. I also like to think I'm a videographer, and social media maven.
