Bio

Jill Barto has been a proud member of the Cajon Valley School Board for 22+ years. Her service and dedication to the children and community of El Cajon are exemplary. She's been happily married to Duane for 33 years. Together they have three children, one granddaughter & raising there 11yr old niece. We have owned our own telecommunications business for last 19 yrs. Jill was a leader on Troop 363 of the local boy scouts for 15+ years, is actively involved teaching youth to fly with the Gillespie Field Eagles for 18+years, serves on the Cajon Valley Education Foundation, works with her church, councils youth who have had trauma &/or teenage pregnancy and has recently joined the Rotary Club of El Cajon. In addition to being on several local school district committees, Jill has completed her Masters in Governance with CSBA, and is active advocate for Special Education. Prior to serving on the Governing Board Jill served as a parent representative for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Head Start Program and was appointed to several national committees & conferences. Jill has served on education committees for Congressman Duncan Hunter, Assemblyman Steve Baldwin, Assembly Jay LaSuer, Assemblyman Brian Jones and Honorable Senator Joel Anderson. Jill was born and raised in El Cajon (East-San Diego)

The TED story

In 2014 we started Tedx@ElCajon & launched our 1st community Tedx event in April 2015 including innovation park. 2015 we them launched TED Ed clubs in each of our 26 schools in the Cajon Valley Union School District. In April 2016 we had our 2nd annual Tedx El Cajon event. I was so proud to have my neice participated this year in Ted Clubs & was a volunteer at our event. Are schools are expanding our Ted Clubs & looking at making our Ted Clubs an elective choice. Along with Ted Clubs we are organizing and will be hosting our 3rd annual TEDxKids@El Cajon in 2017. Ted Women will be my first Ted Conference.
