I'm passionate about

Changes every few years but currently: - understanding ourselves - gender diversity (specifically tech industry)

An idea worth spreading

If you understood yourself, how you think, how you operate, how you make decisions, you would be able to understand that other people are not like you, you will understand how to communicate with them in a way they understand and the world would be a happier place. You also would not think you were broken because you were different to other people. You wouldn't keep trying to be like other people and would embrace your 'you-ness' and all the magnificence you bring to this world. You would be able to make better choices in career and relationships because you know who you are and what is best for you.

The TED story

In 2008 I saw my first TED talk (Jill Bolte-Taylor) at an entrepreneurial conference for women in Las Vegas. I could not believe there was an ENTIRE website of talks for FREE!! I was hooked. A few months later, I saw TEDxMelbourne on the TED website and I went along. It was early days. It wasn't brilliant. The speaker went off topic, the venue was not the best ( a row of chairs collapsed) and it was cold and rainy - but I loved it and volunteered and helped grow TEDxMelbourne for 5 years. I then wanted to do something smaller and more intimate so I got my own license and held an event at a beautiful venue for TEDxDocklands. I have co-organised or been part of the team for 15 TEDx events and am now a little TEDded out eventwise so am taking a break from events and pondering where to next. I mentor other TEDx organisers from around the globe, specifically in process, logistics and operations.

Things you might not know

Looking like I am out all the time when I am often hiding at home/hotel room under the doona/duvet recharging...... The normal life of highly sensitive but extremely curious introvert.
