I’m Marnie Weber. I’m a totally real woman who sees what’s special in others and cheers them on. That’s my ‘brand’. I’m also a single mother of five children ranging in age from 18 to 4 years old. I’m in love with who I am and a great guy I call R. I’m a seeker, which led me to assemble a little tribe called Women United, which is a work in progress but promises to be brilliant. I have a fulltime career as a Marketing Director in the high tech industry and I’m trying to figure out what to do next for my vocation. I write about my life and the things that I care about.

I'm in love with the idea of viral fundraising and am trying to figure out how to take the great example from Obama's campaign to drive money into organizations focused on improving the world for women and girls. If we can get more people to give just a little bit and then pass on the word about worthy causes, we can make a huge difference!

I was exposed to TED when I met an amazing woman at Microsoft for career advice. When I walked into her office on 4/27, she was watching Kavita Ramdas’ TED Talk, which gave me the confidence to share my vision for Women United, then only a barely birthed idea. Our dialog planted a seed and on that day the Universe started transmuting my life. On 6/1, I launched my Women United web site. On 7/1, I agreed to co-produce my first fundraising event to benefit the Mona Foundation. On 8/5, my boss sponsored me to attend TEDWomen and on 9/1, my application was accepted and I registered. Most certainly there was magic in this, but I had a part to play too. I had to be open to the magic. I had to listen to my inner voice and recognize the little glimmers of inspiration as they arose in my heart and my mind. And I had to act upon that voice, taking one step at a time, not knowing where the path would ultimately lead. I’m on the edge of my seat as I watch it unfold!
