Bio
I am a freelance writer, TEDx organizer, outdoor enthusiast and yogi who writes with abandon for local publications in Jackson Hole, Wy, ranchers, politicians, real estate experts or whoever will hire me in this beautiful place I call home. I am comfortable talking to heads of state and homeless people. But I feel most at home when talking to or playing with kids. But I love coaching speakers with brilliant ideas. I teach skiing so that I can get a free pass to take powder days off in the winter. I write about yoga festivals so that I can participate and practice kindness through movement. I have seen a daily practice of breath, positive intention setting and gratitude transform my life. I am working on an application to bring that practice to the world.
I'm passionate about
yoga, kids, journalism, skiing, art, enjoying life
An idea worth spreading
breast milk heals cuts in a a matter of hours, superglue keeps better in the refrigerator, smiling when you first wake up makes you happy, three minutes of breath, two minutes of positive intention setting and one minute of gratitude a day can change your life.
The TED story
In 2010, I organized TEDxLila in Rochester, NY, a salon-like TEDx with 100 people at my children's primary school. We discussed the Sanskrit concept of Lila or divine play through research on how nature inspires happiness, how playing with technology can help us save energy, the profound impact of sound for the deaf, poetry, dance, and storytelling. In 2011 I moved to Jackson Hole where I teamed up with Lisa Samford, the executive director of JH Wild. Since then we have organized TEDxJackson Hole around the themes of Discover, Extreme, Imagine, Disrupt, Resilience, Passion, Out of Darkness and Metamorphosis. It has been a great journey.
