Hi there, My name is Hayoung Park, and I am currently a senior at Reservoir High School. Born and raised in South Korea, I moved to the States in second grade, unable to speak a full sentence in English. Given that disadvantage of culture and language among other barriers, I had to work harder, just to even out the playing field. A huge part of my character, the factor that made me who and what I am, is taking initiative. Taking initiative means going that extra mile for what you believe in, and as Samuel Dash once said, "When you believe in what you're doing and use your imagination and initiative, you can make a difference". I believe everyone has an idea worth spreading, an idea to incite change. What better way than to expose those ideas than to hold a Tedx event? I look forward to organizing my first Tedx event, hopefully the first of many more to come.

My TEDx story starts on the 26th of March, 2016, at Johns Hopkins University. I had been watching TEDTalks for years, but after watching Nate Garvis' "Change our culture, change our world" talk, I REALLY wanted to make a difference in the world, one way or another. This thought was in the back of my mind for years. One random day, after getting home from a DECA meeting, I decided to watch some TEDTalks, and googled to see if there were any going on around me. Surprisingly, there was one planned, two months away. I looked and waited, but did not see a way for me to purchase tickets. I became frustrated and decided to contact the organizer of the event, and he told me his story of how he got involved in TEDx as a high school student and how he was glad to see other students getting involved. On the 26th my friend and I went, and thus began my TED story of how and why I chose to become part of the conduit of revolutionary ideas, TED.
