Bio
Randy Waynick assumed the role of senior vice president of Sony Electronics Strategic Alliance group in April 09. He is responsible for aligning strategy, resources and development of new products and services across all product categories. Specifically the integration between key third party partners and Sony is the primary emphasis, including MSO’s, Content providers, and technology suppliers. In his prior role he was the executive leading the Home Products Division. His responsibility included directing the marketing of Sonys television and home audio/video products, spearheading business and product development, product planning and retail communications for HPD, with specific focus on high-definition TV, and the commercialization of Blu-ray hardware.
Previously, Randy Waynick served as senior vice president of sales with primary responsibility for the Best Buy relationship. In this role he oversaw the strategic planning, sales, advertising, supply chain and general profit and loss for SEL.
Since joining Sony in 1985, Waynicks experience has included all levels of sales. He started out as a video specialist charged with helping to launch the 8mm format and then moved to key account manager handling television and video for many large multi-state accounts.
Waynick also served as national sales manager based in N.J., where he was responsible for Sonys total TV business in the United States. The national sales manager position led to his promotion to vice president of sales for the Midwest region, a role that saw him responsible for all sales across all products in the consumer line to all Midwest dealers in 16 states. Waynick subsequently became vice president of sales national accounts, vice president of new business planning and CPFR project lead.
Waynicks contributions have helped SEL to improve its service to dealers and factories. He worked on the design and implementation of a collaborative planning and forecast process and tool to better satisfy the new demands of business; an integrated sales, marketing and systems to establish appropriate protocols and process to better satisfy consumer demand; directed and lead a team of multiple outside consultants and business partners; and worked on numerous accounts to identify needs.
Waynick is two-time recipient of the Sony Samurai award, the highest honor bestowed on a Sony salesperson, as well as numerous other top performers awards and recognitions. He is a member of the Sales Executive Council and the Conference Board.
He has received numerous degrees including a Ph.D. in organization and management. His research explored Increasing In-Store Share via Customer Service Techniques and Impact of the Internet on the Selling Function and Role. Waynick has participated in executive education at the University of Michigan, University of Notre Dame, Harvard University and The Center for Creative Learning. He is an active professor at two universities teaching marketing, management, e-business, multinational marketing and motivating IT professionals.
