An idea worth spreading
Engagement is the key to learning and the key to engagement is giving students some control over their learning. Today most students have little control over their learning. They are told what to study, how to study, and when to study. They are focused on passing tests. One of the new strategies that seems promising without adding costs is called Blended Learning which means that a student learns at least in part through online delivery instruction with some element of control over time, place, path or pace. That means that a teacher can lecture 50% of the time but the other 50% should be online learning. This pedagogy works in all subject areas from science to English to journalism. Hundreds of schools are trying this methodology and their results are impressive.
