Bio
There are a number of things I am passionate about in my life ranging from my faith to technology to social justice and the environment. I am 23 years old and consider myself quite blessed with experiences for my age. I have survived meningitis and encephalitis; regrown my organs, circulatory and nervous systems; and re-learned to walk read and write after a spinal column collapse when I was 15. I have lived in 3 countries since “becoming an adult” and visited 12, learning from the many people around the world who have taught me that life is more about perspective, choice and a desire to understand ‘the other’ then about being right or coming out on top. My known ancestors are English, Scottish, Italian, Portuguese, Cherokee and Iroquois though I grew up in the farming city of Fresno, California and speak Spanish as my second language.
Volunteer history is a bit long, particularly because of my past disposition against money, but a few of my favourite experiences have been changing the perspective of cancer and baldness through running a cancer awareness/fundraising campaign to support the local Children’s Hospital in Fresno where our work drew a $20M grant to the hospital , working as president of the Rotaract Club at the University of Waterloo and working with small local church youth groups to give back to the next group of upcoming adults.
My work history has been just as varied. I have worked in biofarma, real estate with RE/MAX, global startup incubators as a mentor, run my own company, and currently I work at Microsoft Canada helping run their Partner Network. In each of these roles I have had the opportunity to innovate and help make the lives around me better.
My current innovative project is working on a daily update for the UW community on the tech-scene within the region and working to fight the negative effects of tech-oriented gentrification by bringing the right people to the table to create an equitable city for all who call it home.
I'm passionate about
Shalom, Equity, the environment, tech, start-ups and people.
An idea worth spreading
Death and burial needs to be handled better. What will be your impact? What's your plan?
