An idea worth spreading
The way to fixing our educational system is twofold- empower teachers, students, and parents, and to change the cultural and societal mindset that only good grades = intelligence to a growth mindset.
The TED story
It was love at first sight with TED. I've used TED talks in my classroom for several years to spark discussion or enhance understanding or perspective of topics. And hosting my first event last year, well...it was love as well. A crazy, jump in feet-first, only 100 days from start to finish organizing my first TEDxYouth event crazy love. Love made me do it - love for my students, who I told could definitely do something like a TED talk, which turned into them wanting to host a TEDx event...and for them, I made it happen. Our event was a success, from the standpoint that the event went smoothly and was quite impressive down to the details, and from the teams who contributed to making it run smoothly.
Things you might not know
Baking the most delicious chocolate chip cookies they've ever tasted. Honestly, I'm not overexaggerating or being egotistical. :)
