Bio
Born in America, made in China, dead in Doha, reincarnated in Kathmandu—now living in Owasco.
I’m the Executive Director of the West Lake Art Conservation Center, sculptor and stop-motion animator. My path has been anything but straight—creating life-size ice sculptures in Beijing’s summer, porcelain trees at the Smithsonian, underwater bike reefs in Indonesia, and, of course, china in China. I’m also a trained object conservation scientist specialising in Islamic ceramics, 19th century bronzes and contemporary metal/plastic deterioration (My research? Artificial Christmas trees). I like to call them DIY installation art for the masses.
I'm passionate about
Animating the inanimate.
An idea worth spreading
It's not always about crossing the line but sometimes about staying on the line, that grey area in between being the outsider and being an insider. An area where you can look objectively at two cultures while creating one of your own as well.
