Educator/Teacher
Bio
I’m Pooja Misra. I currently head the co-scholastic department in my school, and I’m also the wellbeing lead and the head of the counselling team, including socio-emotional and career counselling. I teach Geography to Students of grades 9 & 10 and I have 26 years of experience in education.
The identities that matter most to me are being an educator, a mentor, a leader, and someone who really cares about student wellbeing and whole-child development.
I'm passionate about
I am passionate about teaching my subject and making a meaningful difference in the lives of my students. Education, for me, is not just about knowledge - it is about impact, growth, and possibility.
An idea worth spreading
History tells us what happened; Geography helps us understand why. As a Geography teacher, I want learners to see that maps are not just about places - they are about people, power, choices, and possibilities.

The TED story
My TED story is about the lasting impact educators can have. I have seen how care, encouragement, and belief can help students discover confidence and purpose. The idea I want to spread is that teaching is not just about completing a syllabus; it is about helping young people see what is possible for themselves and for the world.
Things you might not know
People may not know that I am good at dancing. It has been a part of me for a long time, but like many personal passions, it slowly took a back seat because of work and family responsibilities. Still, whenever I dance, I reconnect with joy, freedom, and myself.
