The TED story

Since 2002, I have been on a quest to bring about the positive changes our society so desperately needs by inspiring our youth to hunger for knowledge and seek it around them. For the last decade and a half, I have taught a mix of high school English and Social Sciences in some of Orange County’s toughest neighborhoods. The challenges and missing components in reading that have dulled our youth’s attraction to books are elements I have been battling to decipher for over two decades as I have volunteered or worked with children and teens in different capacities throughout Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. My quest is set to spread literacy against a rising tide of anti-intellectualism, anti-democratic values, and an onslaught of technological and commercial distractions. But I refuse to give in or give up.
