Aysun Taşdoğan is an experienced English language educator and Assistant Principal at Özel Sanko Okulları, one of Gaziantep's most prestigious private schools. With a deep commitment to nurturing critical thinking, cross-cultural communication, and academic excellence, Taşdoğan has dedicated years to shaping the next generation of thoughtful, globally-minded young people. As both a classroom teacher and a school administrator, Taşdoğan brings a rare dual perspective — understanding education from the ground up while also guiding the institution's broader vision. A strong believer in the power of ideas to transform communities, Taşdoğan is one of the driving forces behind TEDxSanko, supporting students in creating a platform where bold ideas can flourish in Gaziantep.

Great education is not about filling students with information — it is about teaching them to ask better questions. In a world overflowing with content, the most valuable skill we can give young people is the ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and never stop being curious. Language is the gateway to this transformation, and every classroom is an opportunity to open that gate wider.

My connection to TED began with a simple curiosity — watching talks late at night and realizing that the best education doesn't always happen in a classroom. When my students proposed organizing TEDxSanko, I saw it immediately as something bigger than an event: a chance to prove that young people in Gaziantep are ready to engage with the world's most important ideas — and to contribute their own. I am proud to stand behind them as they make it happen.

Bringing together people from very different backgrounds and helping them find common ground — whether in a classroom, a staff meeting, or a community event. Organization and event leadership come naturally, which is why supporting TEDxSanko has felt like a perfect fit.
