About Brittany

Bio

Dr. Brittany Bingham is a proud member of the shíshálh Nation and an Indigenous health leader reimagining health systems through the lens of equity, wellness, and Indigenous resurgence. She is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Medicine and the Founder and Lead of the Indigenous Equity Lab at BC Women’s Health Research Institute, which works to advance Indigenous-led solutions that address health inequities and support transformative systems change. Her work centers on advancing Indigenous women’s health and wellness, while transforming systems through community-driven, culturally grounded research. Through the Indigenous Equity Lab, she leads initiatives that span Indigenous health, equity, and the social and structural conditions shaping wellbeing - working alongside communities to co-create solutions that are rooted in self-determination and care. A passionate mentor and advocate for the next generation, Dr. Bingham is deeply committed to supporting Indigenous scholars, to lead, thrive, and reshape the future of research and systems change. Her work reflects a matriarchal approach—grounded in relationality, responsibility, and lifting as she climbs. Bridging academic, policy, and community spaces, she contributes to national and global conversations on Indigenous health, equity, and governance, advancing more just and sustainable futures. A proud mother, she brings her whole self to this work - rooted in love, accountability, and future generations. She welcomes connection with co-conspirators, creatives, and changemakers.
