About Trésor

Bio

Trésor Dieudonné Kalonji is an entrepreneur, researcher, and field practitioner working at the intersection of digital innovation, participatory governance and the fight against disinformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Trésor is a recipient of the National Order of Merit in Arts, Sciences, and Letters of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is also a certified innovator by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation of the DRC for his work in designing educational video games that address societal challenges through interactive learning. Very active throughout younth organizations, he serves as President of the YALI RLC East Africa Chapter in the DRC and is actively engaged within the YALI Network as a certified MOOC facilitator and trainer. He was also the former national President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in the DRC in 2024. His expertise is further reinforced through the Radio Netherlands Training Centre and his participation as an alumnus of the African Civic Engagement Academy of the University of Georgia in the U.S. Trésor’s work addresses some of the most pressing challenges of our time: the spread of disinformation in conflict settings, online hate speech, digital inequality, and the underrepresentation of youth in decision-making processes. What distinguishes him is his ability to translate complex societal issues into accessible, engaging, and actionable solutions. Through innovative formats such as interactive storytelling and serious games, he designs tools that equip individuals and communities with the critical skills needed to navigate increasingly fragile information ecosystems. His projects bridge education, technology, and social impact, making abstract concepts tangible and practical for diverse audiences. Deeply involved in the entrepreneurial and media landscape, Trésor also supports young professionals, content creators, and organizations in building responsible and effective digital strategies. He has facilitated and moderated high-level dialogues between local and international stakeholders, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the co-creation of context-driven solutions. At the core of his work lies a broader vision: an Africa that produces its own narratives, masters its digital environments, and transforms its structural vulnerabilities into opportunities for innovation and resilience. His research and initiatives explore the intersection of technology, collective psychology, and social dynamics, with a particular focus on the mechanisms that fuel online hate and the strategies that can prevent it. Driven by the belief that sustainable change is rooted in education and community engagement, Trésor develops programs that combine analytical rigor with creativity, emphasizing measurable impact and behavioral transformation. His approach bridges the gap between ideas and action, between public policy and local realities, and between technological innovation and human-centered needs. Today, Trésor stands as a committed actor in shaping a more ethical, inclusive, and resilient digital ecosystem in Africa, one where individuals are not just users of technology, but informed and empowered agents of change.
