“Cindy” Yuqing Lei 雷雨晴

Born into a diplomatic family, Cindy Lei developed a global perspective from an early age—one that continues to shape her work across education, culture, and international collaboration. She began her academic journey in Applied Psychology with a concentration in Human Kinesiology and Sport Psychology under the mentorship of Professor Zhang Liwei, President of the Asian-South Pacific Association of Sport Psychology. Cindy later pursued advanced studies in the United States, where she earned three master’s degrees in Education, Human Resource Development and Organizational Development, and an MBA focused on AI and Big Data. She is currently pursuing a PhD in the Philosophy of Art under Professor Zheng Changling, Deputy Director of the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Safeguard Center at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. Her career has consistently focused on building bridges across cultures and systems of knowledge. During her time in the United States, she contributed to cross-cultural initiatives that introduced Chinese history and innovation to global audiences, including supporting the exhibition China’s Lost Ancient Civilization: The Mystery of Sanxingdui at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She later served as Vice President at Beijing Cul-Tech Center, where she led large-scale international cultural and urban collaboration initiatives. Her work spanned the operation of Beijing’s Nanhaizi National Park, one of the city’s largest ecological and cultural public spaces, as well as contributions to the development of the Beijing Pilot Free Trade Zone and Comprehensive Bonded Zone, supporting both policy-linked innovation and international exchange ecosystems. She also worked with Chinese enterprises and global partners to facilitate cultural and economic cooperation. In addition, she led major international public diplomacy and cultural exchange initiatives, working directly with official representative offices and embassies and consulates in China from across Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Pacific Island nations. Through these collaborations, she supported the establishment of more than 15 country pavilions in China—platforms designed to showcase national culture, foster bilateral exchange, and deepen mutual understanding through public-facing cultural and innovation programs. Cindy is currently Executive Director at New Channel International Education Group, where she leads the organization’s exclusive partnership with TED in China. Her work focuses on how ideas travel across languages and cultures, integrating storytelling, presentation literacy, and bilingual education to empower a new generation of globally minded learners. She is particularly interested in how education, culture, and communication intersect to shape a more connected and empathetic world.
