About Matt
Bio
Matt Wu is the President and COO of Schoolhouse.world, a nonprofit founded by Sal Khan to provide free, peer-to-peer tutoring to students around the globe. At Schoolhouse, Matt leads strategy, operations, and partnerships in service of an ambitious vision: to build a global learning ecosystem where no talent goes undiscovered and every student can thrive in an AI era. Under his leadership, Schoolhouse has grown to serve 175K+ students across 180+ countries thanks to an incredible network of 25K+ volunteer tutors, while building innovative partnerships with organizations like Zoom, the College Board, Google, and 50+ college partners.
Matt joined Schoolhouse in 2022 after studying computer science at MIT and working in management consulting at BCG. What drew him in was Schoolhouse’s rare combination of an inspiring mission, a powerful platform, and a deeply human community. He has led the scaling of flagship programs like the SAT Bootcamps, launched new academic offerings, and bridged partnerships that expand access to opportunity. He is especially passionate about helping young people build an unrelenting belief in themselves and empowering his teams to translate big ideas into executable strategy to unlock meaningful impact at scale.
Originally from Vermont, Matt now lives in Brooklyn with his fiancée, Kat. Outside of work, he’s happiest being active - on a basketball court or hiking and skiing through the mountains - experimenting in the kitchen, or traveling with close friends. Known for wearing many hats and bringing energy to everything he does, Matt ultimately hopes to return to his roots as a high school math teacher and basketball coach, continuing his lifelong commitment to help young people realize their potential and reach higher than they thought possible.
