Bio

I’m Nicolas Grineberg, a student storyteller and media creator based in Miami, Florida. I’m the founder and president of TEDxGulliver Prep, a student-led platform built to give ideas a stage and voices a space to be heard. Through my work in broadcast journalism, filmmaking, and commentary, I focus on using media as a form of service—creating content that sparks conversation, encourages critical thinking, and connects people through shared ideas. I’ve led productions ranging from daily live shows to high-level competitions, earning recognition through Student Emmy nominations and statewide awards. Beyond creating, I’m passionate about mentorship, helping other students find their voice and elevate their work. Whether it’s through a camera, a stage, or a conversation, my goal is simple: create work that resonates and leaves something behind.

The TED story

I was first introduced to TED when I was about eight years old. I had randomly googled my mom’s name and came across a talk she had given at a local university. I clicked on it out of curiosity, and it quickly became one of my favorite videos to watch. From there, I kept coming back to TED, watching talks, solving riddles, and exploring ideas that challenged how I thought. There was something about the way complex ideas were shared so clearly that stuck with me. Years later, I had the opportunity to be part of a TED-style event in Mexico City. That experience shifted everything. It wasn’t just about watching ideas anymore, it was about creating a space where they could exist and be shared. That’s when it clicked. I wanted to bring that same energy to my own community. So I started TEDxGulliver Prep, not just as an event, but as a process. A space where students can develop their ideas, find their voice, and share something that actually matters. For me, TED has always been more than talks. It’s about giving ideas a place to live, and making sure they reach the people who need to hear them.
