Reevana Balmahoon is the research group leader for Artificial Intelligence and Extended Reality at Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. She has previously managed innovation at Vodacom, and held senior level portfolios in strategic analytics within the technology and telecommunications industries. She is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s GeoTech Centre, and is a limited partner at a venture fund that invests in female focused businesses. Reevana has expertise in developing new technologies, leading cross-functional teams, and securing and managing technology investments. She prioritises inclusivity in technology and is committed to engineering sustainable societies for the future. Reevana has a PhD in engineering from University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science.
