Aarifa Gora is an educator based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the lead organiser of TEDxOWIS Riyadh Youth — the first independently organised TEDx event at OWIS Riyadh. Passionate about empowering young voices, she works to create platforms where students can share ideas that matter. She believes that giving students the stage to think critically and speak boldly is one of the most impactful things education can offer.

Empowering students to find and use their voice, creating meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, building communities where young people feel heard, and showing that age is never a barrier to having something important to say.

Every young person has an idea worth sharing — they just need the right stage. When we trust students with real platforms and real audiences, we don't just build their confidence, we discover perspectives that adults often overlook. The future of ideas isn't waiting for adulthood; it's already here, in our classrooms.

I organised my school's first-ever TEDx event — TEDxOWIS Riyadh Youth — because I believed my students had ideas that deserved a bigger stage than a classroom. From curating speakers to coaching students on their talks, I built the event from the ground up. Watching 10 students, from Grades 6 to 9, step up and share their ideas with confidence reminded me why I became an educator in the first place. TEDx gave my students a platform, and in return, they gave me a reason to keep pushing for more.

Bringing together people, ideas, and logistics under tight deadlines — and making it look effortless. Also, convincing teenagers that public speaking is actually fun.
