An idea worth spreading
Small Joys Are a Radical Act of Survival
Tiny moments of joy laughing with a friend, taking a walk, enjoying music are not distractions.
They are a scientifically powerful way of resetting our brain and protecting our mental health.
The TED story
When I look back at my childhood, I honestly laugh at how clueless I was. I was so dumb sometimes that I once kicked a glass full of water kept on the floor and obviously got scolded badly for it. I was never the sharp or confident kid. I was shy, quiet and very easy to target, and because of that I got bullied a lot in school.
But life made me grow up early. I had to become independent at an age where most kids were still figuring themselves out. I had to take care of myself emotionally and mentally, and that slowly started shaping me into someone stronger.
Somewhere in that journey, I changed. I became more serious about my life and ended up becoming a diligent law student. The same girl who once stayed silent is now invited as the chief speaker to talk about law and guide school students. The girl who used to hide in the back now stands in front and speaks with confidence.
And the funniest part is that the girl who once had no friends now has her own group called DY’s Gang.
My story is simple. I didn’t start strong. I just kept growing. And today, when I look at how far I’ve come, I feel proud of the girl who learned to stand on her own at such a young age and never stopped moving forward.
Things you might not know
Dance and I am good at creating strong, meaningful stories even on the spot and under pressure, something most people don’t know about me. I can take any situation, think quickly and turn it into a message or narrative that connects instantly with others.
