Bio
I am Maryam Helal, a Computer Science & AI student and my university’s Exemplary Student—a title earned through academic excellence and a genuine drive for change. As a Software Engineer focused on Artificial Intelligence, I have worked on numerous projects bridging the gap between tech and reality. Driven by the belief that unheard voices should be the loudest in a noisy world, I founded the first-ever university-level TEDx in Qena: TEDxQena National University, pioneering a new era of ideas and empowerment for the academic community in Upper Egypt.
I'm passionate about
I’m passionate about breaking barriers through education, technology, and leadership. I love creating opportunities for young people to explore their potential, whether through science, sports, or community initiatives. I believe that innovation should be used to solve real-world problems and improve lives, from my hometown to the global stage.
An idea worth spreading
Change starts when you give young people a space to imagine beyond limits. When diverse voices are heard, innovation thrives, and communities move forward. TEDx at my university is my way of creating that space—where ideas can grow, inspire, and spark action.
The TED story
The first TED Talk I watched made me realize one idea could shift your mindset entirely. I wanted that spark for everyone around me, especially in spaces where opportunity feels limited. TEDx is more than talks—it’s a platform to empower, challenge, and transform. That’s why I’m bringing it to my university.
Things you might not know
People don’t know I can turn big, complicated ideas into stories that inspire action. I’m also good at bringing people together—turning chaos into clear, impactful visions—and motivating teams to believe that anything is possible when you combine knowledge, courage, and persistence.
