Bio

I am a Consultant Dermatologist and the Medical Director at RENDER, where my work centers on laser dermatology, pigmentation, and preventive aging. My training began at Christian Medical College, Vellore, where I earned my MD in Dermatology, followed by a DNB. Over the years, I have worked with advanced technologies such as Picoway, Starwalker, Accent Prime, and Enerjet, shaping clinical protocols and research in these areas. Alongside my clinical role, I founded CHOSEN, a science-based skincare brand created to address the unique concerns of Indian skin and support healthy longevity. Known to many as Dr. R, I am passionate about making skincare science accessible beyond the clinic , through teaching, writing, and conversations that connect health, culture, and everyday choices.

I'm passionate about

Skin of Colour I am deeply invested in advancing dermatology for Skin of Colour. This passion comes from addressing unmet needs, building safe, effective solutions, and creating science that truly reflects diverse populations often overlooked in mainstream skincare research.

An idea worth spreading

Exposome science The exposome — the sum of all environmental exposures across our life — shapes our skin and health more than we realise. Sharing this idea is about showing how everyday choices and surroundings leave lasting biological marks, and how awareness can empower healthier living.

Areas of expertise

aesthetics, cosmetology, lasers in dermatology, neurotoxins in dermatology, research

The TED story

Science to society My journey has been about moving science out of the lab and into people’s lives. From clinical research to product innovation, and from dermatology to broader health, I’ve always sought to bridge the gap — making science practical, personal, and transformative for society.

Things you might not know

Storytelling Beyond the clinic and lab, I have a knack for storytelling — taking complex science and translating it into relatable, human narratives. It’s what allows me to connect research, practice, and community in ways that resonate widely.
