I'm passionate about

I have been described as "passionate" on many occasions - I am passionate about the people I serve in my community, causes - many causes, green building, Watts and Strogatz network theory

An idea worth spreading

Nationally, only 75% of our youth are graduating high school. In the inner cities the rates are typically about 50%. Soon after they drop-out, many acquire criminal records. This is sad, unproductive and costly to society. We employ these young men and women and they get green job training for two years. It costs less than incarceration, and we are able to help most of them earn their HS Diploma, a State Apprenticeship Certificate, and a number of nationally recognized green building credentials. We already had the work to do, we have just chosen to be more inclusive by asking them to help us keep up the neighborhoods they live in. WIth revenue generated from the work performed, we are able to recapture much of the cost for Instructors, etc. We currently have kids working on their GED and LEED credentials at the same time. I think we should be doing more things like this for the opportunity youth of our nation
