Paige Tailyn Johnson is a passionate plant enthusiast and educator dedicated to fostering a love for plant ownership. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, and now based in Atlanta, Georgia, she was inspired by the loss of her grandmother, Pamela Morgan, in 2016, to create Blossom Effect—a platform that empowers Black and brown communities by promoting inclusivity and personal growth through plant education. Through Blossom Effect, Paige has launched initiatives such as the Blossom Effect Micro Grant Program, which provides financial support to local LGBTQ+ and BIPOC-owned plant businesses, and the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC Plant Directory, a resource that highlights and uplifts underrepresented voices in the plant community. Blossom Effect’s mission centers on nurturing both plants and individuals, creating a transformative space for learning and connection. An idea worth spreading is that people are like plants! They carry history, culture, and connection. By sharing their stories, we not only learn how to care for them, but we also learn how to care for ourselves and each other. Just like plants, people too can blossom into their fullest selves when given the right care, environment, and encouragement.
