Bio

I have been in education for twenty-two years. I began my career in the Cajon Valley Union School district as a classroom teacher. After teaching in multiple grade levels I moved to a Bilingual Facilitator and coaching position. I later rose to become an Assistant Principal at a Middle School and then to an Elementary School Principal, at Title 1 schools, for fourteen years. Most recently I have moved into the Director of Educational Services in charge of English Learner Programs and Presentation Literacy. During my tenure, I have proven myself to be a creative, highly effective, collaborative leader who can engage the community, maintain a positive environment, and increase student engagement and achievement. I have a clear understanding of the needs of English Learners, refugees, high poverty students, and their families. I know how to find and implement opportunities needed to develop student’s strengths, interests, and values into concrete goals, ideas, and eventually careers that will impact the world through the World of Work. I look to a future with the possible move to a Superintendent position where I can continue to improve teacher practice and student achievement. I want to use my expertise in leadership, combined with my understanding of global perspectives and the World of Work to change education.
