Bio
Anastasia Wanjohi is the Project Manager at Cella, specializing in geologic carbon sequestration. With over 10 years of experience in the energy sector, she previously worked at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), overseeing Natural and Energy Resources. Before that, she was a Senior Geophysicist at Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), contributing to the geothermal industry until July 2015.
She holds a Master of Science degree in Applied Geophysics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology (Hons) both from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She has a postgraduate diploma in Geothermal Geophysics from the United Nations University-Geothermal Training programme, Iceland. She is a registered geologist (RGeol) allowed to practice in Kenya under the Geologists Registration Board (GRB) and a professional member of the Geological Society of Kenya (GSK) and the Geothermal Association of Kenya (GAK).
Among other professional trainings, she has trained in Climate change mitigation and adaptation, Natural resources management, oil and gas, renewable energy and Energy efficiency and conservation (PEC, California). She is a Fellow and Alumnus of the prestigious Tech-women Fellowship. Anastasia is among Kenya’s few women geophysicists especially in the energy and natural resources sector.
A strong believer in equal opportunities for women and women empowerment, she is involved in mentoring, inspiring and guiding young women in STEM. Anastasia believes that the world will be able to solve most of the big issues such as poverty by involving women in the solutions and listening to women - the power of women must be tapped and utilized since it is enormous. I have been involved in sensitization and policy formulation in Kenya on issues climate change and natural resources sustainable development.
