I am Mohammad Al-Karasneh, a Computer Engineering graduated from Yarmouk University, Jordan. Throughout my academic journey, I have been driven by curiosity, innovation, and a passion for solving real-world challenges. I specialize in embedded systems, robotics, and physical design engineering, always striving to combine technical expertise with creative thinking. From participating in the Erasmus exchange program at Mälardalen University in Sweden to representing Jordan at the 3rd Mediterranean Student Summit in Italy, I have consistently sought opportunities to grow academically and culturally. With a proven track record in developing innovative projects like the award-winning SeaLution device and leading teams in international competitions, I aim to make a meaningful impact in the tech industry while fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

I’m passionate about using technology to solve problems and create a better future. Embedded systems fascinate me because they’re at the core of so many innovations, from robotics to healthcare. Every project I take on feels like a step toward improving lives and advancing industries. I’m equally passionate about cultural exchange—representing Jordan internationally has shown me how powerful connections across cultures can be. These passions motivate me to keep learning and growing, both as an engineer and as a global citizen.

An idea that’s close to my heart is giving official recognition to volunteer work within academic programs. Volunteering builds empathy, develops problem-solving skills, and connects students with real-world challenges—but it’s often overlooked in education. By accrediting volunteer activities, universities could encourage more students to get involved in meaningful community work, turning academic institutions into catalysts for social change. It’s about fostering a culture where success isn’t just defined by grades but also by the positive impact we make.

My TED journey started with a simple ambition: to share ideas and connect with people. Representing Jordan at the UNIMED Mediterranean Student Summit was a turning point. It gave me a platform to discuss challenges, present solutions, and showcase the rich heritage of my country. TED’s mission of “ideas worth spreading” inspires me to keep building impactful projects and finding stories that unite people across cultures and industries. It’s about making every conversation count and leaving a positive mark.

Something people might not know about me is that I’m good at baking! I enjoy making traditional Jordanian dishes like maqluba, which is as much about preserving culture as it is about cooking. Baking requires precision and creativity, which reminds me of engineering in a way—whether it’s adjusting a recipe or troubleshooting a design, it’s all about finding the right balance. Sharing food with others is a small but meaningful way I connect with people.
