Bio

Olugbenga Adesida is the co-founder and Director of the Africa Innovation Summit. He consults widely on foresight, innovation and strategy issues for governments, international organizations and companies. He is also the co-founder of Bonako (a tech company) and Muska (music tech startup). He is a member of the Business Angels of Cabo Verde and founding member of the Cabo Verde Investors Club. Olugbenga has published many articles and co-edited special issues of journals such as the Africa Development Review, Futures, Foresight and Africa Journal of Science, Technology, Innovation and Development, and co-edited books such as African Voices, African Visions, Innovation Africa: Emerging Hubs of Excellence, and Innovation Ecosystems in Africa: Solving the Problems We Have. Olugbenga is also a Director of the African Leadership Institute and played a key role in the design of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellowship. He also serves on the board of the Foundation of the Former President of Cabo Verde, President Pedro Pires Leadership Institute and he is a member of the Program Advisory Council, Grand Challenges Canada. Olugbenga is particularly interested in the interplay of foresight, institutions, innovation and national competitiveness. He holds a BA and MA in Economics from The City College of New York (USA) and PhD from the London School of Economics (UK). He lives in Cabo Verde Islands.
