About Victoria

Bio

I have been living in Luton for over 13 years, I decided it is time to use my passion for community growth to find ways to enhance people’s experience of Luton. I have worked in our local Luton & Dunstable hospital in Occupational Therapy department, and volunteered in my local Noah Welfare Centre, which provides necessary services to the homeless. I am currently working as a Traffic Officer. I love community, when like-minded individuals come together to share and contribute to the growth of one another. I particularly love helping others navigate through life’s journey by using my experience in similar situations. I find it very rewarding. Luton is a vibrant, multicultural, exciting and a growing town. I intend to use this platform as a stepping stone to eliminate the negative commentary about Luton and to highlight the creativity and resilience of Lutonians. I am a married mother of 2 teenagers, I love a boxing match, sadza, chicken and greens, and during my quiet time - a good read. My reading list at the moment is ‘The silence of the choir’ by Mohamed Mbougar, ‘The history of the Bible’ by John Barton and ‘The rest of you’ by Maame Blue.

I'm passionate about

What Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie said – the danger of a single story - we are responsible for sharing our stories within our community and outside of our communities.

An idea worth spreading

Take responsibility for the positive and the negative stories you tell others about where you call home! Be intentional.

The TED story

If ever there was a time to share the stories from Luton with the world, our experiences, our powerful concepts and ideas, our global perspectives — it would be now. Thank you TEDx, for the chance to make this a reality.
