Bio

From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to precision — to understanding how things work, how they fit together, and why they matter. Whether it was piecing together the logic behind a math problem, tracing the cause and consequence of a historical event, or analyzing the motivations behind a character in a novel, I found satisfaction in uncovering structure and meaning. This same analytical curiosity later became the foundation of how I approached both academics and life. I’m currently studying in the IB, an environment that constantly challenges me to think critically and connect disciplines in creative ways. Beyond golf and academics, I value the quieter lessons I’ve learned from the people and environments around me. Being part of my school community for over a decade has shown me the importance of persistence and balance. I’ve come to appreciate that real understanding often comes from uncertainty — from questioning, revising, and seeking clarity through challenge. Looking forward, I hope to study law not only to explore systems of justice, but also to understand how negotiation, fairness, and analysis come together to create harmony in society — just as they do in the controlled rhythm of a golf swing. Both in sport and in study

I'm passionate about

Golf has been a constant in my life since kindergarten, when I first picked up a club during a PE lesson. Back then, the club felt almost too big for me, yet the feeling of striking the ball cleanly — that crisp, centered contact — was something I never forgot. Over time, golf evolved from a pastime into my main sport, and eventually into a discipline that has shaped how I think, compete, and live. Playing golf competitively taught me about precision and patience in ways no classroom could. I learned that improvement doesn’t come all at once; it’s the product of hundreds of quiet, repetitive swings and countless small adjustments. I carried my own golf bag as a kid, played at Sun Island, and grew through the discipline of practice. Golf taught me more about resilience than any victory speech could: that composure under pressure, trust in preparation, and the ability to adapt are what separate perseverance from frustration. Golf, in many ways, mirrors my academic approach. Both require discipline, analysis, and self-awareness.

The TED story

My TED story begins with curiosity. When I first watched TED talks online, I was amazed by how one person’s idea could stay with me long after the video ended. Some talks inspired me, some made me laugh, and some pushed me to research topics I had never considered before. One talk that especially stayed with me was Tim Urban’s “Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator.” I first watched it in Grade 7, and although I mostly found it funny at the time, its simple storytelling and creative diagrams made the idea memorable. As I grew older, I realized how deeply it connected to my own experiences. That is what I hope to create through hosting a TEDx event: a space where ideas do not just end when the talk ends, but continue as conversations, questions, and inspiration. I want to ignite curiosity in others, amplify local voices, and bring my community together through meaningful stories. Through golf at SSIS, I have met people from across China and around the world, each with different backgrounds, experiences, and lessons to share. Those conversations helped shape who I am, and they reminded me that everyone has a story worth hearing. My goal is to create a memorable TEDx experience that gives people a stage to share their ideas, celebrate our community, and inspire a ripple effect of new perspectives. I want people to leave not only entertained, but moved to think differently, connect more deeply, and explore ideas beyond the event.
