Bio

Marcia G. Yerman comes to the online space from the visual arts. As a painter, her work has been exhibited for over twenty-five years. In the 1990s, Yerman began curating exhibitions in an effort to bring visibility to women artists of diverse backgrounds. In tandem, she hosted and produced the cable show "Women in Art," to push out the message about the unheralded contributions women were making to the art world. In 2006, while working on outreach for the Feminist Art Project, Yerman connected with the Women’s Media Center, founded by Gloria Steinem, Robin Morgan, and Jane Fonda. She became part of the start-up team, consulting on women and cultural issues. This led to parallel careers in writing, activism, and new media. Since 2007, Yerman has been writing for The Huffington Post, where she has built recognition through regular contributions and a permanent vertical. She was quoted in the The Huffington Post Complete Guide to Blogging published in 2008. She now houses all her work at mgyerman.com. She has been published by AlterNet, Women Make News, Empowher, RH Reality, The Political Voices of Women, and Women's Radio. Yerman is the co-founder cultureID, a social community and platform with the mission of “creating a nexus between activism and the arts.” She lives in New York City.
