I'm Imene Mahfouf, an English teacher and university lecturer specializing in reading and writing at the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I hold a degree in Language Sciences and Culture with a focus on the English language, and I'm deeply passionate about language education, intercultural communication, and creative learning. At 23, I've had the chance to work in diverse teaching environments, including École Linguistique Firdaws and English Gate, where I taught both English and Spanish. I strive to create inclusive, engaging spaces for learners of all levels, always blending creativity and structure in my approach. My journey also includes leadership and international experience through AIESEC. I held several roles with AIESEC in Algeria—from facilitator to delegate services and external relations—and I took part in a global exchange experience with AIESEC in Denmark. I’m also proud to have contributed to the arts and education scene through the Association Felicartis. Currently, I’m expanding my creative toolkit through graphic design training and developing interactive, seasonal English programs. I speak five languages: English, French, Spanish, Turkish, and German and I’m always looking for ways to grow, connect, and inspire through education and culture.

Language is more than communication, it's connection. In a world that's more globalized yet increasingly divided, language learning isn't just an academic pursuit; it's a tool for empathy, cultural intelligence, and belonging. By reimagining how we teach languages through creativity, inclusion, and emotional connection we can raise not just fluent speakers, but compassionate global citizens.

I grew up surrounded by languages not just words, but cultures, emotions, and different ways of seeing the world. I didn’t just learn languages; I fell in love with their power to connect people. That love turned into a purpose: to teach, to create, and to empower. As a language teacher and university lecturer, I’ve stood in front of classrooms filled with students from all walks of life. But I realized early on that traditional teaching wasn't enough. So, I started designing creative, inclusive experiences summer camps, themed workshops, international exchange sessions that sparked curiosity and made learning feel like discovery. Along the way, youth leadership shaped me. Through AIESEC, I facilitated projects, led teams, and worked across cultures. I found that language and leadership were deeply linked both are about building bridges. Now, I’m blending all of it teaching, creativity, intercultural awareness, and design into one mission: to help young people find their voice in more than one language and use it to make meaningful change. My TED story is about how a classroom, no matter how small, can become a world of possibilities when we teach with intention, empathy, and imagination.

People don’t often know I’m good at blending creativity with structure. Whether it’s designing a language activity, organizing a youth project, or crafting visual content, I naturally bring clarity, aesthetics, and purpose together. I’m also great at reading the room adapting quickly to different energy levels, cultures, and learning needs. It’s a quiet strength, but it makes all the difference in the classroom and beyond
