Bio
I am Madinabonu Urinova - a teacher at the Journalism and Mass Communications University (JMCU) in Uzbekistan, and I want to organize TEDxJMCU, the university's first TEDx event. Passionate about empowering young journalists, I aim to create a platform for students to share ideas, explore the future of journalism, and connect with the community.
As a former TEDx speaker with experience organizing university events, I am dedicated to promoting local stories and preparing future journalists to tackle new challenges, including the impact of AI on media. TEDxJMCU will bring together students, educators, and professionals to inspire creativity and innovation in journalism.
I'm passionate about
Idea generation and creativity are top goals in my self-development and academic career. In fact, these are the traits I appreciate most in any personality. Ideas are clues that play a crucial role in the decision-making process. For this reason, I always strive to be an idea generator and partner for young people, helping to develop new ideas, expand their outlook, and find solutions to social issues in our community together. I am an idea generator, and this is my power.
An idea worth spreading
TEDx has played a crucial role in my life. I still remember my first participation — an event filled with excitement and promise. It wasn’t just about listening to ideas; it was about finding my voice, sharing my thoughts, and connecting with like-minded people. The experience gave me a valuable platform to grow personally and professionally, strengthening my network in ways I never imagined. TEDx has since become a space where I continue to be inspired and motivated, reminding me of the power of ideas and community to drive change.
For this reason, since I started my position as a teacher at Journalism University in Uzbekistan, I really want to start something innovative that gathers young individuals from journalism sphere to connect community and promote local voices. My hope is to help them grow and make a real impact by promoting local stories and ideas that matter.
The topic I’ve chosen for this TEDx event is critical, as it not only challenges journalism but also shapes its future. AI is becoming a core part of our lives and is transforming the journalism landscape. From automated news to data-driven reporting, AI is redefining how news is produced and consumed. It offers efficiency but also raises ethical concerns about bias, accuracy, and the role of human journalists. This discussion is essential for preparing the next generation of journalists to navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The TED story
In 2023, I delivered my first TEDx talk, “Minor to Major: How Tiny Habits Make Our Planet Greener,” inspired by James Clear’s Atomic Habits. It was a transformative experience that strengthened my confidence as a speaker and deepened my passion for impactful topics like sustainability.
Now, as I organize my first TEDx event at Uzbekistan Journalism and Mass Communications University, I’m drawing on that experience. Combining my leadership skills and love for storytelling, I’m creating a platform for others to share ideas worth spreading—just as I once did.
