Bio
Asim works at the intersection of technology and real-world impact, focusing on how organizations can adapt and make better decisions in a rapidly changing world. His background spans ERP systems, data platforms, and AI, and he has spent his career helping leaders turn complex environments into more practical, usable, and human-centered ones.
He has led and contributed to large-scale efforts such as the U.S. Navy’s first petabyte-scale data platform and key ERP modernization programs. Much of his recent work focuses on helping organizations simplify what they already have, reducing unnecessary complexity, and thoughtfully introducing AI where it genuinely improves outcomes.
Asim studied at MIT Sloan and is a senior member of IEEE. He brings both an engineering mindset and a strong interest in how people interact with technology, especially in environments where decisions carry real consequences.
He is particularly interested in how AI can support human judgment rather than replace it; and how technology can strengthen institutions while staying grounded in responsibility and trust.

I’m passionate about building technology that works for people in real, everyday contexts. For me, innovation starts with understanding how decisions are made and where things break down, not just what is technically possible. Whether I’m working on data systems, AI, or enterprise platforms, I focus on making them simpler, more useful, and more aligned with how people actually work. At its best, technology should support better decisions, reduce friction, and create outcomes that are both practical and responsible.
An idea worth spreading
Technology should not move faster than our values. As we build systems powered by AI, automation, and data, the real challenge is not just making them more capable, but making them more thoughtful. The choices we make in design, data, and deployment shape how people live and decide. If we want technology to truly serve us, it needs to reflect human judgment, responsibility, and care; not as an afterthought, but as part of how it is built from the start.

The TED story
There are parts of my story I have rarely shared. For much of my life, I kept them carefully hidden, shaped by insecurities and a quiet belief that silence offered a kind of protection. It felt easier to move forward without looking too closely at where I came from; to focus on building, achieving, and creating something new.
This was never meant to be public. It began as something I was writing for my children; a way for them to understand their roots, and to see more clearly the paths taken by their parents and grandparents. I wanted them to know that behind every achievement, every opportunity, there are stories of struggle, uncertainty, and choices made without guarantees. It is still a work in progress, and in many ways, so am I.
Growing up, I spent a great deal of time trying to fit into different worlds; learning when to speak, when to stay quiet, and how to navigate spaces that were not always designed for someone like me. There were moments of doubt, of feeling out of place, of questioning whether I truly belonged. Those experiences shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. They taught resilience, but also caution. They encouraged ambition, but sometimes at the cost of openness.
Over time, I began to realize that the parts of our story we try hardest to hide are often the ones that hold the most meaning. They influence how we make decisions, how we build relationships, and how we define success. They shape our instincts in moments of pressure and guide our sense of responsibility when others depend on us.
As my life and work evolved, especially in environments where decisions carry real consequences, I found myself returning to these earlier experiences. They became a quiet source of perspective; a reminder that behind every system, every organization, and every line of code, there are people navigating their own uncertainties and histories. That awareness changed how I approached both technology and leadership.
This reflection also changed how I think about legacy. What do we pass on, beyond visible accomplishments? What do we leave behind for the next generation to understand about who we were, what we faced, and how we chose to respond?
Sharing even a small part of this here is not about revealing everything. It is about acknowledging that our lives are shaped by more than what is visible on the surface. It is about creating a bridge; one that connects past to present, and present to future. For my children, it is a way of saying that they are part of a longer story. For others, perhaps it is a reminder that we all carry unseen chapters that continue to shape us.
I have come to believe that strength is not just found in what we achieve, but in what we are willing to understand about ourselves. The past does not define us, but it does leave traces; and within those traces are lessons, perspective, and, sometimes, a deeper sense of purpose.
This is still unfinished. But maybe that is the point.
Things you might not know
People often see my work in AI, data systems, and enterprise solutions and assume I focus only on large-scale systems. What they don’t always see is my fascination with the small, intricate details that make those systems work.
I’m a lifelong builder and experimenter at heart. As a licensed ham radio operator, I maintain an extensive electronics lab at home where I spend hours tinkering, designing circuits, and fabricating antennas; then testing them through live radio transmissions. I enjoy understanding systems not just at scale, but down to their smallest components. That hands-on curiosity keeps me grounded and constantly learning, even while working on large transformation efforts.
Another side of me is my love for photography. Wherever I travel, my camera is usually with me. It helps me slow down and notice details I might otherwise miss; small moments, patterns, and connections between people and places.
I’m also drawn to more analog pursuits; a large personal library of books and an extensive music collection that I still prefer in its original form. These interests give me a different kind of focus and balance to the digital world I work in every day.
In my work, people don’t always realize that I’m good at helping teams stay calm in high-pressure situations. Whether it’s a complex AI initiative or an ERP transformation, I focus on creating clarity when things feel uncertain. I tend to look for risks that are easy to overlook; not just technical ones, but human and organizational ones.
I often find myself asking a simple question: is this actually making things better for the people who rely on it? That perspective shapes how I approach both technology and leadership.
People may see the systems I help build, but what matters to me is the human layer that holds them together.
