An idea worth spreading

Mohammadreza grew up in Hamedan, a city rich in history and culture. From a young age, he was fascinated by how technology could improve people’s lives. This curiosity led him to pursue engineering and design. During university, he quickly realized his passion extended beyond academics and computers—he wanted to build a foundation for innovation in his hometown. He began as a volunteer at local tech events and gradually took on leadership roles, from executive planning to coaching speakers. Relying on his technical and organizational skills, he launched a series of educational and community-driven events that grew in scale and impact over time. Alongside these efforts, he continued his career in product design, gaining experience in both startups and established companies—transforming complex challenges into simple, meaningful user experiences. In 2024, after years of grassroots work, Mohammadreza obtained the license to host TEDx in Hamedan. Today, he serves as the executive director of TEDxHamedan, working tirelessly to spotlight local innovators on a global stage. In all his projects, strengthening the cultural and social identity of Hamedan remains a core priority—he believes that sustainable innovation emerges from within communities and local culture.

The TED story

I’ve always been drawn to the clarity and quality of TED Talks—their powerful ideas, meaningful storytelling, and crisp visuals spoke to me in ways most content didn’t. Growing up in Hamedan, I often felt a cultural and intellectual gap in the city. There were no large-scale events around technology, startups, or innovation—nothing that could spark curiosity or bring changemakers together. At first, I set out to organize a tech and startup-focused event to energize the local ecosystem. But as I dug deeper, I realized that the challenges in my city weren’t just economic—they were social, cultural, and educational too. I wanted to build something bigger, something that could bring together voices from art, science, education, and even policy. To match the ambition with quality, I turned to the TED format. Its high standards, global community, and mission to spread ideas felt like the perfect fit for Hamedan. That’s how TEDxHamedan was born—a space where diverse minds could meet, share, and build a future rooted in innovation and collective growth.
