Bio
Franziska Trautmann aka “Glass Girl” grew up in South Louisiana hearing about the coastal erosion crisis facing her state. In 2020, over a bottle of wine, Fran and her boyfriend Max hatched a plan to divert all of the glass going to landfills into sand to fight coastal erosion. Six years later, they’ve diverted over 14 million lbs of glass and participated in multiple coastal restoration projects. This journey taught Fran that it doesn’t have to take government, huge companies, or experts to make change. Change can happen with individuals, one small step at a time.
