Hey there! I'm Sharon Tyana Menezes, a student at St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. Born and raised in the sunny city of Muscat, Oman, I decided to do a full 180 and move to India for my undergrad – talk about an adventure! When I'm not studying or watching Netflix, you'll find me in the thick of event planning madness – and I absolutely love it! I've organized everything from school functions to college fests, always with a smile on my face and a to-do list in hand. My friends jokingly call me the Prime Minister of the Country as I’m always planning and doing something or the other! I've worn many hats in my leadership journey – from being a Council member in School to being the Vice President in my Pre-University College. Now, I'm the go-to gal for all things tech as the Secretary of our college's coding club, The sceptix club. But wait, there's more! I'm also the life of the party (literally) as the Cultural Secretary and Vice President in my church's Youth Group. One of my proudest moments? Being the Lead Organizer for HackToFuture2.0, a National Level Hackathon. It was like planning a wedding, but with more computers, snacks and energy drinks! I also had an amazing time as the Overall Events Coordinator for our college's National Level Fest, Tiara. Let's just say I know how to throw an epic party... I mean, educational event! In team settings, I'm like a cheerful octopus – efficiently juggling tasks and spreading good vibes. My secret? A dash of OCD when it comes to organization (color-coded spreadsheets are my jam) and a heaping spoonful of people-pleasing energy. I'll go to the moon and back to make sure everyone's having a great time! But wait, there's more to this tech-loving, event-planning enthusiast! I'm absolutely passionate about Machine Learning and AI. It's like being a kid in a candy store, but instead of sweets, I'm surrounded by algorithms and neural networks! My future aspirations? I'm dreaming big – I want to be at the forefront of AI innovation, developing solutions that can make a real difference in people's lives. Whether it's creating smarter healthcare systems, tackling climate change with AI, or revolutionizing education through personalized learning algorithms – I want to be right in the thick of it! I see myself as a bridge between the tech world and the 'real' world. My knack for organizing events and my passion for technology? It's a match made in heaven! In the future, I hope to organize tech conferences that bring together the brightest minds in AI and ML, making these complex topics accessible and exciting for everyone. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be giving my own TED talk about how AI is transforming the way we live and work!

I've always been driven by the desire to make a difference. It's not just about doing big things, but about the small, everyday actions that can create ripples of change. I'm absolutely passionate about bringing people together, whether that's through organizing events or leading teams. There's something magical about seeing a group of individuals come together, share ideas, and create something bigger than themselves. I'm also deeply passionate about personal growth. Every single day, I wake up with this burning desire to be better than I was yesterday. It's like this internal fire that keeps pushing me forward. Technology and its potential to transform lives also gets me incredibly excited. I love exploring how I can use tech for everyday problems that can be solved using automation. Currently, I am incredibly passionate about AI and Machine Learning and envision myself working in this field especially contributing to Cancer Research and How Cancer can be detected early on using AI and Machine Learning. Growing up in Oman and then moving to India for studies, I've experienced firsthand how enriching it can be to bridge different cultures. I'm passionate about utilizing that kind of cross-cultural understanding in everything I do. This cross-cultural experience has taught me to be more adaptable, open-minded, and empathetic. I've learned to see challenges from multiple angles and to find innovative solutions by blending diverse viewpoints. Whether I'm organizing an event, leading a team, or just interacting with people in daily life, I always try to utilize this multicultural lens. I believe it's a superpower in our increasingly globalized world, and I'm passionate about helping others develop this kind of cultural fluency too. It's amazing how understanding different cultures can broaden our horizons and enrich our lives in ways we never expected.

I guess it all started back when I was just a kid, always curious about the world and hungry for knowledge. I remember stumbling upon TED talks online and being completely blown away. Here were these amazing speakers, sharing ideas that could change the world, and I was hooked. Fast forward to now in college, those TED talks I'd watched had definitely prepared me in a way I hadn't even realized. They'd taught me to be open-minded, to embrace new perspectives, to see challenges as opportunities for growth. When I got involved with TEDxSJEC as a volunteer in 2022, it felt like coming full circle. Suddenly, I wasn't just watching these inspiring talks - I was part of the team bringing them to life! Working on the 'Corridor of Hope' and showcasing stories of entrepreneurial fire... it was like I could feel the energy of those ideas spreading through our campus. But here's the thing - being a volunteer wasn't enough. I wanted to do more, to create an even bigger platform for sharing ideas that matter. That's what led me to take on the challenge of organizing TEDxSJEC. I believe that ideas have the power to transform lives. And not just big, world-changing ideas, but also the small, personal insights that can shift someone's perspective or inspire them to take action. My TED story is about bridging cultures, connecting ideas, and creating spaces where people can be inspired and challenged to think differently. It's about taking the passion I felt as a young kid watching TED talks and turning it into action. But more than anything, my TED story is still being written. With every event we organize, every speaker we platform, every audience member we reach - we're adding new chapters. And I can't wait to see where this story goes next. Because at the end of the day, TED isn't just about talks or events. It's about sparking conversations, building connections, and empowering people to explore what truly matters in life. And that's a story I want to be part of for a long, long time.

People often see me as this outgoing person, but there's a side to me that not many people know about. I'm actually really good at introspection and deep thinking. I spend a lot of time reflecting on complex ideas and trying to understand different perspectives. I've got this knack for connecting seemingly unrelated concepts and finding patterns where others might not see them. It's like I've got this internal web of thoughts that I'm constantly weaving together. This ability really comes in handy when I'm planning events or solving problems, but it's not something I usually broadcast. Also, I'm surprisingly good at adapting to new environments. Moving from Oman to India for my studies was a big change, but I managed to not just adapt, but thrive. I think this skill of cultural adaptation is something that's really valuable, but it's not always obvious to others. Also, I'm actually pretty good at debates. I love diving into complex topics, looking at issues from multiple angles, and constructing persuasive arguments. Most people see me as this tech and event management person, but put me in a debate, and I can really hold my own. It's a skill that helps me think critically and express ideas clearly, which is super useful in all aspects of life. Lastly, I'd say I'm good at seeing the potential in people. I have this ability to spot talents and strengths in others that they might not even see in themselves. It's part of what drives me to organize events and bring people together - I love creating opportunities for others to shine.
