I am a high school science teacher at The American School Foundation in Mexico City. I studied Human Biology at Brown University and completed a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Edinburgh.

Our education systems place a greater emphasis on students' grades than on the quality of their learning. We urgently need to work together to shift this focus and place learning back at the center of education.

Before becoming the lead organizer of the TEDx Youth conference at The American School Foundation, I delivered a TEDx talk as a teacher guest speaker. Through my talk, I wanted students and teachers to realize how we have become so obsessed with grades that we have forgotten that the main purpose of going to school must be learning. I loved the whole experience, from the research I did to write my speech to the delivery of it on the day of the event. I know that all the students who delivered a TEDx talk that year also found the experience an incredibly valuable one. I became the lead organizer of TEDx Youth conference at my school to continue strengthening this amazing platform where students can share and discuss the topics they are most passionate about.
